This shoot was super fun. We had scheduled our time and then mom got called to be at an event so grandma filled in. This actually turned out to be a really good idea, one that I would repeat. There is a relaxed bond with granparents that is so sweet to observe. It was perfect. Mom didn’t have to stress about anything and simply got to enjoy the images. Grandma got to be grandma and love on the kids plus give them a treat!!
Mom Pat did tell me that they rarely got genuine smiles out of these kiddos when taking pictures so with a wish of good luck and a gracious goodbye she was off. I was up for the challenge and grandma thankfully was up for an adventure.
We played all kinds of games, talked about funny stuff and definitely had some good laughs. One of the most heartwarming things was watching the dynamic between the kids and grandma. The genuine emotion was exactly what I was after. It was so precious watching the kids whisper and then look at grandma and laugh. Ultimately revealing what they loved best about grandma was that she always gave them popsicles and grandpa doing his magic tricks. I sat back and watched them read and snuggle together too.
I observed Olivia with her art and Andres and I talked about sports. Then they treated me to a demonstration of their mad Speed Stacking skills. Boy was I impressed.
I loved every minute of it!! xo julie
